Zayed International Airport, United Arab Emirates, and was designed by the Kohn Pedersen Fox architectural firm, based in United States, was the winner of the highest award in the airport category.

During the morning conference, the President of Mexico, claudia sheinbaum, celebrated this achievement, highlighting the importance of the AIFA as a symbol of modernity and architectural beauty in the country.

The organizers of this award, which is endorsed by the UNESCO, they highlighted that the beauty of the AIFA comes, among other things, from its large control tower, the highest in Latin America and which is inspired by an Aztec weapon known as macuahuitl and an overflowing cultural exhibition inside through its themed bathrooms and the representation of the Sun Stone, in the center of the last waiting room of the airport complex.

The recognition was awarded at a ceremony held in Paris, French, where General Gustavo Vallejo represented Mexico and received the award.

AIFA competed with five other internationally renowned airports, but, as we said, it managed to stand out for its innovative design and functionality.

This recognition is undoubtedly significant for our country, as it positions AIFA not only as a key point in the national air transport infrastructure, but also as a tourist attraction due to its design.

According to federal government data, the total cost of the AIFA by the end of 2024 will amount to 80 million pesos, including the 324 billion pesos for its construction.
