New tourism strategies are presented to strengthen the Mayan Train and the Magical Towns.

Accompanied by him Undersecretary of Tourism and in charge of the economic, cultural and social reactivation of Acapulco, Sebastián Ramírez Mendoza, as well as representatives of all political forces, Rodríguez Zamora presented the relevant actions implemented during the current administration to benefit tourism activity during the first two months of his administration.

In a lively exchange of ideas, the representatives of the Chamber of Deputies expressed their interest in learning about the new government's guidelines on tourism and revealed areas of opportunity to consolidate tourism in our country.

The head of the Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) presented to the attendees the work in terms of promotion to consolidate the Mayan Train as a trigger for tourism activity, with a national and international campaign in coordinated work with the Airport, Railway, Auxiliary and Related Services Group, Olmeca-Maya-Mexica.

In inviting the legislators of the Tourism Commission to board the Mayan Train, Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that in this administration the agency he heads will have a significant role in decision-making for the benefit of this infrastructure project that, as the president reported, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, its last section will be inaugurated on December 15.

He pointed out that as part of the push for community tourism, actions will be implemented to support the resident communities of the Magic towns.

In this regard, he stressed that the connectivity of the localities will be promoted with the new designation Community Village, and through the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications, they will be marketed on web platforms, where artisans will be able to display their products to the world. These platforms will be promoted on social networks to increase their impact.

The Magical Color Routes initiative will also continue, with which this Secretariat, each state and its municipalities will invest to improve the urban image, and the guidelines and categories of the recognition called Magical Town will be reformed.

What's coming next year

He announced that, in January 2025, a protocol will be launched for consulates and embassies to respond to travel alerts in tourist-sending markets to Mexico, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Juan Ramón de la Fuente.

He said that, as part of the tourism promotion, the Mexico brand will be strengthened and work will be done with the states in the most important tourism fairs in the world, with the aim of strengthening the promotion of its diversity of attractions.

In this regard, he pointed out the importance of the celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2026, where Mexico will have the opportunity to show the world its extensive cultural, gastronomic, tourist and artisanal wealth, its ancient history and the traditions of its Native Peoples.

He mentioned that, along with Gabriela Cuevas, will join forces to democratize soccer, and all of Mexico will participate in the celebration of this important sporting event, through activations in the 32 entities, in alliance with government agencies and the private sector.

He also highlighted some of the joint actions with the states, including strategies to improve the perception of Sinaloa, Zacatecas and Guerrero, through positive tourism promotion campaigns that highlight the greatness and warmth of the inhabitants of these destinations.

Secretary Rodríguez Zamora added that the Visit Mexico website catalog will be strengthened, with accurate information provided by DataTur, as well as the inclusion of the tourist atlas and catalogs and different tourism segments such as romance, sports, among others, will be added.

Finally, he mentioned that the Punto México promotional space located in the Ministry of Tourism will no longer be open only to the states, but will also be available to artisans who organize themselves and require spaces to exhibit and market their products, a reflection of the identity and culture of our country.
